The American International Health Alliance (AIHA) is dismayed by the U.S. Administration’s dismantling of its foreign development assistance programs and infrastructure.

“As a nonprofit organization founded in 1992 with support from the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), AIHA knows first-hand how U.S. foreign development assistance provides invaluable lifesaving and lifelong health solutions while at the same time making the United States safer, stronger, and more prosperous,” says AIHA President & CEO David Greeley.

For the past 33 years, AIHA has strengthened health systems and built the capacity of health workers, institutions, civil society organizations, and governments in low- and middle-income countries around the world, much of it thanks to the support of USAID and other U.S. Government agencies.

Because of the strength of our diversified donor-funded portfolio, AIHA has fortunately not been as adversely affected by the recent foreign aid freeze as many other implementing partners that rely predominantly on U.S. Government funding. In fact, AIHA is not only fully open for business, but eager to expand our reach during this challenging time.

“AIHA is looking to explore new partnerships and projects that will help ensure critical health and social support services can still be provided to people around the globe who need them,” says AIHA Board Chair Charles Evans. “This includes the possibility of absorbing additional projects and staff not funded by the U.S. Government that other organizations may not be unable to maintain under the current conditions.”
