The theme for World AIDS Day 2024 underscores the importance of placing human rights at the forefront of efforts to end the public health threat of HIV/AIDS by 2030.
According to UNAIDS, the substantial progress made in the battle against HIV is directly linked to progress in protecting human rights and putting communities in the driver’s seat. This progress has, in turn, led to progress in strengthening and expanding health systems.
Unfortunately, “gaps in the realization of human rights for all are keeping the world from
getting on the path that ends AIDS and are hurting public health, and now a surge in attacks on rights is threatening to undermine the progress that has been made.”
AIHA is proud to support our partners at the Philippines Department of Health as they conduct events to commemorate #WorldAIDSDay2024 on Sunday, Dec. 1.
In keeping with the UNAIDS theme for this year’s campaign, “Take the RIGHTS Path,” they will host the 2024 AIDS Walk bright and early tomorrow morning at Pasig City.
In the afternoon our partners at the Philippine National AIDS Council (PNAC) and Love Yourself will host a celebration focused on community-based awareness, engagement, and empowerment to combat HIV and AIDS. U=U activities, including participation of six celebrity/advocate U=U Ambassadors and the launch of a U=U Influencers Toolkit, will be a highlight of the event.
