Washington, DC, January 15, 2017 – AIHA has issued a Request for Proposals to support Phase 2 of an ongoing volunteer-based twinning partnership designed to strengthen the capacity of three Ethiopian academic institutions: the Jimma Institute of Technology (JIT) at Jimma University, the Addis Ababa Tegbare-id Polytechnic College (AATPC), and the Addis Ababa Institute of Technology (AAIT) at Addis Ababa University.

We are seeking an academic institution or consortium of institutions with expertise in supporting biomedical equipment technician and engineer training, as well as strengthening the institutional and administrative capacity of biomedical equipment maintenance services at healthcare institutions to serve as a resource partner providing technical assistance and support to achieve the objectives of this partnership.|

This project will support the US President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) and be administered by AIHA’s HIV/AIDS Twinning Center Program, which is funded through a cooperative agreement with the US Department of Health and Human Services, Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA).

Since 1992, AIHA has been working with host country governments, donors, and other key national and international stakeholders to address critical public health issues such as HIV/AIDS and other infectious diseases, maternal and child health, primary healthcare, emergency medicine, and a broad range of health professions education and development.
