Global Disease Control & Prevention

Siloed Care Isn’t Effective in Today’s Complex Public Health Landscape. Building Integrated Systems for Sustainable, Locally-driven Care Is.

Today’s health workers face overlapping threats from infectious diseases, climate-driven outbreaks, and the growing burden of chronic conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, and heart disease. These global health challenges do not exist in a vacuum, and health systems cannot afford to respond using siloed approaches.

AIHA helps countries build integrated, locally-led systems that prepare health workers to respond across the full spectrum of disease. By strengthening the system holistically, we help ensure communities are prepared for the outbreaks of today and the chronic health challenges of tomorrow.

PROGRAM EXAMPLES

AIHA supported the Government of Ethiopia’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic, playing a critical role in coordinating evidence-informed decision-making and mobilizing technical assistance to strengthen emergency response capacity, enhance preparedness, and streamline healthcare services across the country.

Through the Dr. Joseph R. Masci Legacy Project, AIHA is working in partnership with Philippine General Hospital to strengthen pandemic preparedness and response. Together with international experts and local leaders, the project is advancing institutional planning, workforce training, and peer learning to improve readiness for future health emergencies.
