In late 2000, AIHA convened a Primary Care Nursing Steering Committee consisting of partnership nurses from all regions of the NIS and the US. The committee was tasked with designing a curriculum for primary care nurse training, and conducting a series of workshops using this curriculum. The curriculum of the first set of workshops consisted of: physical assessment, communication, health promotion, and patient education. The second series focuses on more specific topics such as: time management, mental and adolescent health, asthma, gerontology, and dental health.
