Learning Resources Center Project

What We Do › Telemedicine › Learning Resources Center Project

With the underlying goals of increasing opportunities for communication and collaboration, as well as for promoting efforts to improve quality of care through use of evidence-based medicine, partnership Learning Resource Centers (LRCs) play an integral role in AIHA’s network of knowledge and support. These pioneering centers represent a unique opportunity for healthcare professionals to access current medical information and communicate with colleagues from around the world to improve their diagnostic capabilities and increase clinical knowledge and skills.

The LRC Project supplies healthcare professionals with current information on the most effective practices within their specialization, while helping these professionals build new programs rooted in evidence-based medicine. LRCs are institution- or community-based telecenters that consist of at least one computer with Internet access, a scanner that allows partners to digitize clinical images for use in teleconsultations, and a collection of health and medical databases. They enable healthcare professionals to access current information sources and offer new opportunities for education, communication, and collaboration within the AIHA partnership network, as well as with the international health community.
