It is well known that the proper organization of the nursing workplace and a clear definition of nurses' function are required. The nurse is responsible for caring for patients and administering treatment prescribed by the doctor. Therefore, the nurse's job requires continuous improvement of both theoretical knowledge and professional skills. Social and economic instability, which exacerbates an unsatisfactory state of the basic medicine, causes a deficit of drugs, medical supplies and equipment. Under such conditions, crucial changes in public health are difficult, without increases in finances.

Given the necessity of a large-scale reorganization of the system of medical aid under the current shortage of equipment and funding, it is important to work out and put into practice the most rational ways of medical personnel use.

The goal of this abstract is to present the results of putting into the Institute's practice some recommendations of our partners in Kansas City. The process includes the following stages: getting familiarized with recommendations of the administration and head nurses; identifying recommendations that could be implemented by the Institute; and defining the priorities for their introduction.

Preliminary analysis of introduced innovations shows the following achievements:

  • The role of nurse in the clinic rose and led to increased responsibilities.
  • With nurses helping implement better sanitary supervision and infection control, nosocomial infections decreased, along with a decrease in sanitary stations' fines.
  • The educational room helped nurses adapt quickly to the work conditions, provided opportunities for cross-training of nurses, and improved their skills for patient care.
