The formation of an association of nurses in Kyrgyzstan has involved a number of steps. First, we studied major trends in activities at the Kyrgyzstan Ministry of Health and personnel available to assist us. We reviewed literature on establishing associations and developed liaisons with associations in other countries. Partner assistance and encouragement was valuable. Next, we defined tasks for the association and exchanged information on practical experience among regional societies. We then informed nurses public of the new association through mass media.
