Kazakhstan National PMTCT Scale-up Project
What We Do › Prevention of Mother-to-Child Transmission of HIV › Kazakhstan National PMTCT Scale-up Project
Building on lessons learned from a highly successful pilot project in Odessa, Ukraine, AIHA—with financial support from USAID—has launched a PMTCT project in Kazakhstan that was designed to serve as a replicable model for other countries in Central Asia. Local pilot sites established in Karaganda, Pavlodar, and Temirtau serve as regional centers of excellence. Related scale-up activities include assistance with the development of national PMTCT strategies and capacity-building plans, as well as the creation of training centers that provide both knowledge and practical clinical skills.
