Database Use Grows in Zagreb

Inspired by their training on FileMaker Pro, Microsoft Access and Excel sofware at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, New Hampshire, partners from Zagreb, Croatia are implementing a host of database projects. They are using their new-found technology savvy to store information on everything from daily drug usage to patient outcomes to hospital employees.
Many of the partners plan to establish small database networks within one hospital department, which will eventually link to other departments. They are also training their colleagues in database use.
Arijana Pavelic, of the University Hospital of Infectious Diseases, is creating a database to keep track of the medical journals in her hospital's library. "It will be a success if I know where the journals are at any time--whether they are in the library or lent out," she said. "I hope it will help me save time to retrieve the information I need, and help me make decisions in an easier, faster way."
