Breast health services ranging from clinical exams and patient education to early detection using ultrasound, mammograms, and needle biopsy play an important role at AIHA partnership Women’s Wellness Centers.
The centers in Kyiv, L’viv, and Odessa, Ukraine, for example, offer a wide range of clinical diagnostic services, participate in AIHA’s Breast Health Program, and host a number of support groups for cancer patients and their families. The Erebuni Center in Yerevan, Armenia, has hosted several international conferences for both clinicians and patients on the prevention of breast cancer. And the Armenian American Wellness Center, also in Yerevan, conducts medical missions to remote areas of the country to bring much-needed services to women who otherwise have little or no access to quality care.
Following is a list of AIHA partnerships that have established Women’s Wellness Centers and the year these facilities opened:
Additional Women’s Wellness Centers utilizing the AIHA model have been opened in Drochia, Moldova (2000); Kyiv, Ukraine (2003); and Almaty, Kazakhstan (2003). These centers were opened as replication sites with technical assistance provided by staff of a nearby center.
